We know that colonies go silent when the Shohan invade. The Shohan place a high priority on destroying ansible relays in any system that falls under their sway. Fourth Fleet command gives the press and public regular briefings, but for all the words the end is the same, silence. The fleet is beating the bushes out here, finding a number of isolationist islander settlements and the odd smuggler drop, yet we stay clear of the three colony worlds where we know the Shohan can be found. The brass says they’re studying, always studying to make certain that the move we make is the right one. Do we have time for that?
At least one person isn’t waiting. William Tuft, of the agricultural giant Nutrigrow, has hired the private security contractor Blue Knight to retrieve his son from the occupied world of Prospero. William Tuft Jr. was on Prospero at the time of the attack, investigating the possible domestication of several native plant species. Admiral Perez cautioned against the rescue attempt, but the Blue Knight crew was undaunted. “We’ve slipped past naval blockades before. Admiral Perez is unaware of this, because we’re good at it.”

Prospero, one of the Terran Sphere's newest colonies, has been taken by the Shohan. Recon elements of the Fourth Fleet monitored the invasion, before falling back in good order to cover the refugees fleeing the colony. From the crews I’ve spoken with, morale remains fundamentally high although they are upset at the fate of Prospero and are eager to counter the renewed Shohan advance. So far, however, no orders have been issued. Fleet command is taking time to study this data, the most extensive gathered to date regarding the Shohan fleet capabilities. The continued silence from fleet command is troubling. Scuttlebut in the fleet is wondering what is so terrible above Prospero that an entire fleet fears to go there. A third world has gone silent. If these attacks were Kriak, we would have hit them back by now. Yes, the Shohan are powerful. But are they so powerful that we need to tiptoe around their aggression like frightened children?
Civilian traffic is increasingly one way: away from sector 4163. Admiral Perez notes that while there is no cause for alarm, having fewer civilians in the region will simplify the sector's strategic considerations.  Some are people running from rumors. Most people, i fear, are running from the silence that follows wherever the Shohan fleet touches.

I am pleased to have the privilege of being embedded with the Fourth Fleet. My crew and I are currently en route to the Houyi, where will be stationed so I have little time to update. However, I can finally report with some certainty about events in sector 4163. First for the many who have lost loved ones at their hands, the Kanhoji Crew pirates have been brought to an end. Elements from the Fourth Fleet disabled two pirate vessels in an attempted raid on Prospero. The Kanhoji Crew's downfall was brought about in part due to years of work by Strategic Signals Processing Division, who were able to utilize their attacks over the years to trace their movements and the Psionic Resources Bureau whose precogs were able to use that data to predict their next attack. Without their last two vessels, the captured pirates revealed the location of their base, a failed islander colony. As is frequently the case, the isolationist colony ran into problems maintaining it’s tech base and turned to piracy, first for survival, then profit. Authorities are still sorting through the the colony’s inhabitants, charges have been proffered against many, but for others they are simply trying to return them to their worlds of origin or find next of kin.
In other islander news, contact has been lost with the independent colony "We Made It!" Officially, the fleet is unconcerned, in the words of one officer "The rock farmers probably ran out of tangle for their relay again", but in private conversations, I am given to understand that long range recon probes have been dispatched to the colony, “purely as a precautionary measure”.   Meanwhile, Zhujiangjin and Minerva are still silent. Fleet command may have information regarding the present situation, however they too have been unusually quiet of late.

The TSN has reportedly dispatched reconnaissance missions to Zhujiangjin and Minerva, in order to ascertain the current situation on those worlds. Minerva has been out of communication for many months under Shohan blockade, while Zhujiangjin recently shared its fate, when the Shohan invaded the colony world. Unfortunately, rumor has it, that these recon flights are long overdue, and presumed missing. Speculation in the Fleet is rampant, but for the moment there is little in our light cone with which to make sense of of the Shohan’s current actions. Diplomatic beacons scattered across the systems of the Xan Memorial Worlds continue to request the Shohan meet with our diplomats, but the action seems somewhat forlorn at this juncture. While there is still time for the diplomats to sort things out it is quickly running out. No diplomat can negotiate with a vacuum: if the Shohan have some demand of us, their continued silence resolves nothing. Unfortunately, should their silence continue, we will have no choice but to act with our own force and initiative.

It has been one day since Shohan forces appeared at the colony world of Zhujiangjin, and some details are starting to filter down from Trafalgar Station. The Shohan surpised the sparse defenders of the system and the young colony was quickly isolated. Currently there are no reports of anyone successfully making it off planet. Inhabitants of the system's single port station were luckier: many were able to escape in the trading vessels docked there before the Shohan forces could close on the station.

Their escape was made possible in part due to the sacrifice of the station's defenders, including Commodore Peter Gou. Originally of the Alpha Centauri Space Navy, the Commodore took service with the TSN during the last Kriak crusade where he commanded the famous Golden Arrow squadron. The Commodore led numerous incursions into Kriak territory, acquiring intelligence, hitting crucial targets, and never leaving a man behind. Often described as dashing, the Commodore lived up the traditions of gallantry held by his native service. After the war, the commodore surprised many by retiring to Zhujiangjin, where he took up a post in the systems' nascent light lugger network, but those who knew him well, knew of his desire for peace after long years of war, and his love of the world's many warm shallow seas. It was at his lighthouse post that the commodore fell, refocusing the laser sources in an attempt to burn the Shohan approaching the station. His noble sacrifice will be remembered, as will the sacrifices of all those valiant defenders who sought to throw back these invaders. The Shohan have brought us war, and in the words of commodore Guo, "We will not rest, unless in the bed of lady Victory."
