Good evening, Spacers, this is Amanda Kally, reporting to you from the Stella Insula stardocks, high above Zanzibar.
Big news in the freighter market this week, folks! Insular StarDrives has announced the release of the XSG-7200! Preliminary tests on this latest model show that it’s almost 10% more efficient than previous grav wave initiators, and you don’t need me to tell you how much heat that’ll save you down the lanes! With the recent boom in the islander movements, expect these babies to fly off the shelves in no time flat. Oh, and for those of you with some older models, they’re saying they’ve definitely fixed the old RE compatibility issues that the 7000s had.
Also on the islander front: the Sphere military office has issued a travel advisory in and around Sector 4163. No specifics are available, so it might just be precautionary until contact with Minerva is re-established. Probably no big deal. I’d say the advisory has been upgraded for the Gap, but anyone flying out that way already knows that. If you didn’t know that, you shouldn’t be flying out there in the first place. In a related story, the Chiron Imperial Star League has officially disavowed the group calling themselves the “Blood Guard of Nothur”. They say that while that group was, at one point, a registered Star League mercenary group, recent strife with their Daimyo patrons resulted in their licenses being voided and they are most assuredly acting outside of Chiron orders, authority, and sensibilities.
On the entertainment front, the libraries of Nea Alexandria have opened up another archive for public distribution. Lots of previously privatized multimedia apps just waiting to help you pass those long trips between grav shores, all now public domain! You’ll see the indices posted at most of the major port stations on the lanes. Also coming up in entertainment, the Fifteenth Annual “Race to the Gap” event is accepting entries! Do you think you’ve got the fastest freighter in space? Well, prove it! As usual, the course will start at St. Gereon’s Hub, and the finish line will be at Abascia station. Checkpoints have not yet been finalized, but we’ll keep you posted! Prize is rumored to be even bigger this year!
I’m Amanda Kally and that’s your starburst for tonight.
