Heat, that’s the key! Those shields the lavander assholes have? They bend space! Not like with a grav wave or anything, they just bend it! Folks are still trying to work out how, but high heat is the key.., Especially lingering heat, like napalm or something. Keep agitating the particles, and they don’t stay bent for long! I know it’s been a while since the last show, we’ve gotta keep moving. Captain Rowe’s got us hauling all over; groups that stay too long in one place ... BLAM. Dreads are in orbit, so if they can pin you down, game over. Oh, right, they say I’m not supposed to say her name, but you know me and censorshit. The Resistance hit one of the camps the bastards are running. Picked up some refugees, moving them to Bow, some of them are sick as hell, though. Comatose, vomiting, you name it. Big guy named Thomas looking after some of them. They said he beat one of those assholes to death with his empty gun. HELL YEAH! That’s the shit we’re talking about here! That’s the tech beat for now, Fire, baby! Naveen Maneesh, out!

On the docks behind me... err, my old office, sit the wreckage of at least five Shohan destroyers, towed here after Fleet and Local assets managed to fend off scouting attempts in systems within the Invasion Corridor. Most of the workers on the main stardocks are either military personnel, or have enlisted recently, and they’re busy ripping the wreckage apart to try and figure out anything and everything they can about the enemy. Hear that, engineers? Fun new toys to play with! We could use the help down here! Seriously, it’s busy as Hell here. Dock Groups A and B are almost exclusively military, and D and E are almost entirely populated by refugees and evacuees trying to get out of the corridor. It’s... messy, but it’s working!

There’s a lot of new travel advisories and restrictions going up... Any spacer watching this is sure to be able to guess where they’re going up. It’s really not necessary for me to announce them, since, from what I’ve seen of the traffic here, no one’s going that way anymore. Everyone’s tripping over themselves, and everyone else, to go the other way. They’re... Not all getting there, though. There are a lot of reports of the refugees making attempts at new islander colonies. They just want to start over, but the Colonial Bureau is currently very reluctant to pass any new charters. So, they go anyway, without support. You all know the dangers out there. The Kriak aren’t doing much as a whole right now, but individual clans are still hopping around, just waiting to pounce on these poor people. Some reports even say the Shohan have found some of them... Let’s just hope that’s not the case.

I’m Amanda Kally and this is your deconstructed starburst for tonight.

Destroyer Destroyed!

Tonight’s top story: in what has been described as a failed scouting attempt, a Shohan Destroyer was shot down over New Haven. Vessels from Third Fleet were already patrolling the system when the destroyer jumped in, and in what has been characterized as a brief skirmish, the crewmen managed to disable the enemy vessel before it could withdraw from the system. We’ve since been told that the wreckage of the enemy vessel is being studied for anything it can tell us about our foes. This represents the fourth Destroyer loss the Shohan have suffered in recent weeks. Pilots of the Local Defense forces continue to make gains using the so called “turn and burn” maneuver. The tactic, brought to light by Commodore Shetley himself, involves the use of a ship’s drive plasma to burn through a Shohan Ship’s force fields. The maneuver is not without its dangers though: three ships of the New Haven Defense force were lost in the skirmish.

In more somber news, the colony of Saneesh has gone dark. Reports indicate that the bulk of the civilian population had already been evacuated by Second Fleet, but those elements came under fire from the Shohan invaders during the last stages of the evacuation. We ask that our viewers keep the citizens of this latest colonial victim in their concordances and prayers this evening.

On the Senate Floor today, Senator Kelley put forth a motion that November 20th on the Sphere Standard Calendar become a day of remembrance, commemorating the sacrifices made by Fourth Fleet, and the fate of Artemis III. The motion is expected to pass with an overwhelming majority, though Senator Karsalia was not available for comment on the matter.

After the loss of Artemis III, the Terran Sphere Navy has shifted to a strategy of anticipation and evacuation. Fleet Intelligence has been utilizing precogs to forecast the likely Shohan invasion targets, which are then evacuated ahead of the enemy advance. The TSN also uses these forecasts in order to leave traps for the invaders. The Terran Sphere may not be able to hold all of its worlds, but it can at least keep the people safe.

A fine example of this stratagem was recently demonstrated over the colony of Saneesh. The Shohan fleet arrived just as the last evac ships and their Second Fleet escorts were reaching the grav shore.  A pair of enemy destroyers jumped in to take the evacuees, but the Second was ready. In a few minutes of furious combat, the ships of the Second Fleet drove off the enemy destroyers, saving the evacuees at the cost of one of their own.

Two days later, this video started floating around the networks:

A long distance shot of the city of Saneesh.  Several Shohan dropships descend,  touching ground briefly near the anchor of the beanstalk before spreading out to overfly the city.  Suddenly an intense pulse of light appears, which burns out the camera’s photoreceptor. About half a minute later, the camera records a loud thunderclap, which marks the end of the recording.

When asked for comment, the former mayor of Saneesh City said, “Yes, we left that device for them. It took us three years to build that city. With time and peace we can build another. Our servicemen are willing to trade their lives to diminish the Shohan threat. The least we can do is trade bricks and time for the same goal.”

It’s me again, Naveen Maneesh, still getting the word out, no matter who’s trying to stomp it down! A year under enemy occupation? No problem! Try as they might, these lavander assholes can’t out-think Director Malik! Damn right, the Old Man’s with us, and ain’t no way they can pin him down in his own city! The tech beat for right now is force fields. All their soldier-types have ‘em, so we’ve gotta break ‘em. Survivors of Fourth Fleet are putting their heads together with resistance leaders, and we’re figuring it out! No time for details right now, but we’re still here! Artemis ain’t giving up, now or ever!
